God's Discipline
This is what the LORD says: I will overthrow what I have built and
uproot what I have planted, throughout the earth.
(Jeremiah 45:4)
Judah and Jerusalem assumed they were safe from calamity because they believed God was under compulsion to protect them. The nations around Judah had no fear of God because they thought of Him as a regional deity who had no authority within their borders. But it was time for a reality check. His judgment (His discipline) was about to decisively fall on all nations. God’s discipline, however, is always more than about wrath. Judgment has a redemptive purpose.
