Following the King in His Kingdom
Truly I tell you, many prophets and righteous people longed to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it.
(Matthew 13:17)
Jesus’ amazing miracles and fresh teaching led to the masses wanting more, but they often failed to comprehend the message and were really only interested in the next miraculous “goodies” they could get out of Jesus. There were others who came to despise Jesus, oppose him, and even want his death. A few, however, became his disciples, followed closely, and truly wanted to know him. What made the difference? Following Jesus takes a willingness and the effort to listen and understand.
