Who Is Jesus?

Mar 5, 2017 | by Dewey Howard

According to a statement by Papias in the second century, John Mark "became Peter's interpreter and wrote accurately all that he remembered."  He followed Peter to Rome and listened as the apostle explained the Son of God to a Roman audience.  This Messiah didn't sound like the Roman heroes of the time.  Why should they give their attention to Jesus?  Mark's gospel focuses on who Jesus is as Messiah and Son of God, the authority that is His because of who He is, and what it means for His disciples to follow His mission in this world.
