1st Corinthians

1st Corinthians
As many of you already know, we here at Green Lawn are undertaking a yearlong initiative meant to promote growth as disciples and challenge our congregation in how they read scripture, how they interact with the larger Christian community, and how they understand their role and calling within the Body of Christ. That being said, our study of 1st Corinthians is meant, not as a reprieve from the challenges, but as an opportunity for us to continue to interact with and push ourselves towards our larger goals of promoting unity, strengthening our tools for studying scripture, and being better followers of Christ.
This study will be challenging not only to members of our classes but also to us as teachers. I know 1st Corinthians will not be comfortable for everyone and could lead to heated conversations within your classes or within Prep Class. However, the goal is not to be “right” or “prove” anything to each other, rather to spend time allowing difficult and challenging pieces of scripture to influence, instruct, and inform how we are to live and follow Christ in 21st Century Lubbock, Texas.
I promise you this study is not written with some secret intentions or ulterior motives. The Shepherds and Ministers of Green Lawn have spent months of prayerful consideration and months of work putting together these studies so that we might be able to grow together and understand that despite how we might disagree with one another, we can still be unified in Christ.
